What is CrossFit

CrossFit is strength and conditioning methodology characterised by functionality, fun and community in a group setting. Our workouts are functional, constantly varied and generally performed at high intensity. Our training is comprised of, but not limited to Olympic Lifting, powerlifting, strongman, gymnastics, running, rowing, jump rope –basically we delve into everything! CrossFit is not a specialised fitness programme, but a deliberate attempt to optimise physical competence in each of ten recognised fitness domains detailed here.

The ten recognised fitness domains

  1. Endurance - The ability of body systems to gather, process, and deliver oxygen (cardiovascular/respiratory endurance).
  2. Stamina - The ability of body systems to process, deliver, store, and utilise energy. (capacity to maintain repetitive muscular movements)
  3. Strength - The ability of a muscular unit, or combination of muscular units, to apply force.
  4. Flexibility - the ability to maximize the range of motion at a given joint.
  5. Power - The ability of a muscular unit, or combination of muscular units, to apply maximum force in minimum time.
  6. Speed - The ability to minimize the time cycle of a repeated movement.
  7. Coordination - The ability to combine several distinct movement patterns into a single distinct movement.
  8. Agility - The ability to minimise transition time from one movement pattern to another.
  9. Balance - The ability to control the placement of the body’s centre of gravity in relation to its support base.
  10. Accuracy - The ability to control movement in a given direction or at a given intensity.

How to get started & what to expect

Contact us and we’ll set up a FREE one hour intro session. If, after your free intro session, you’d like to continue training with CrossFit MANA you’ll first need to undergo our 5 session MANA On-Ramp. During MANA On-Ramp our trainers, will cover, in depth, the basic skills required to become proficient at CrossFit. This allows all new athletes to get comfortable with the skills, exercises and methods used in our group CrossFit classes.
